Clem Griffith poems (inspired by Pauline Jones' drawings).
Love Above
O eggbound barque!
O Murgatroyd!
O bin of of every bread!
O twitty lark!
O cyberdroid!
-- and so their love they fulsome pled;
and one was blue, the other off his head.
You Scunthorpe cheese!
You laundromat!
You little chewy jube-jube!
You frolic breeze!
You peek-a-boo, you all-beshat!
-- such lovewords, fondly lulu;
(Warp speed Mr Sulu.)
My clutch, my batch, my ampersand!
My Rann of Kutch, my Custer's stand!
My fawnish joy, my toyland boy!
My Moon with knickers down, ahoy!
-- so blurt their wind-words, hurdy-gurdy, grand.
Brown tongue and rubber dummy bill
are raunchier far, and naughtier still,
than any gauche and hoping hand.
Up For It
She shot into the gladsome blue,
young, lovely, pink and picky,
into a pot of handsome glue,
to slink back blubbery-sticky.
But up she whooshed, again unloosed,
this rocketess of romance,
to fall for a migrating goose,
with much distress of gonads.
Battered but unbowed she zoomed
afresh for rooty-tooty,
to bonk her conk on a lead balloon,
and wreck the worse her beauty.
Green-gilled, bungle-muddle twit,
ballistic for love's mystic flit,
she upped, and head-on hit a bit
of shattered asteroid (incoming,)
which some might think was it...
Yet, hither, yon and low and high,
a-bounce in libido and game,
she Barbara Cartwheels in the sky,
half bus pass and half Zimmer frame.
