"It is difficult for me to write about my own works assuming a critical distance and objectivity.
I realize, therefore, that the impression you get from reading about my works may
differ significantly from the impression you get from looking at them.
I am a bit of a surrealist and a bit of a portrait painter.
I have always been interested in man and the uniqueness of human character,
my main intention being to determine the very moment in which man is most himself,
i.e. the moment in which man’s inner richness and complexity are revealed.
My aim is to grasp life at its most intense or, in other words, in its most dynamic aspect,
which I hope to achieve by trying to capture the moment of most intense work (the creative moment),
but also the moment of one’s relief from work (the leisurely moment), the moment of contemplating the
beauty of one’s body and its surroundings (the contemplative moment) or the moment of intense feeling (the emotive moment).
Hedonism and humility; distance and closeness – this is what constitutes the image of man in my works.
The surreal world is of immense value here since it enhances the overall effect through an unlimited number of solutions,
which are often surprising".
